What is Kunzea Oil?

Kunzea Oil is an Australian Essential Oil derived from the terminal branches of the Kunzea ambigua plant. Regarded as one of Tassie's secrets, Kunzea is a natural treasure when it comes to Australian essential oils. The plant is a member of the Melaleuca family that flourishes in the pristine wilderness of north-eastern Tasmania. It has a clean, fresh aroma and it is the unique ingredient in all of our Zea Relief products.

What is Kunzea Oil used for?

Traditionally, this pure essential oil has been used to relieve pain and reduce inflammation. It is a natural anti-inflammatory and may help those who suffer from arthritis, muscular aches, back/neck pain, joint stiffness and inflammatory skin conditions.

All of our Zea Relief products contain the natural benefits of Australian Kunzea Oil. 

 

Why haven't I heard of Kunzea Oil before now?

We had not heard of it either until we started living and working in Tasmania. A naturopath for the last 20 years, our co-founder Michelle Brass was convinced of the remedial benefits of the Kunzea ambigua plant after using the pure essential oil on clients in her clinic. Repeated requests for the oil from her clients encouraged Michelle and her horticulturist partner Simon Brass to start investigating the full therapeutic properties of the plant. Also known as ‘tick bush’, the wild-growing plant is native to the cooler coastal regions of New South Wales, Victoria and Tasmania, and grows profusely in the rugged climate of northeast Tasmania and the Bass Strait. Aboriginal communities traditionally used the Kunzea ambigua plant to relieve irritated skin, muscle tightness and pain.

Michelle experimented with the pure essential oil until she developed the ideal formula that could be safely used by her clients to help relieve everyday physical ailments. The demonstrated effectiveness of the Kunzea oil compelled the Brass family to launch their own commercial range of natural products, and thus Zea Relief was born.

 

Have any studies been conducted on Kunzea Oil?

Over recent years, a good number of studies have been reported relative to the therapeutic benefits of Kunzea essential oil in a variety of common complaints. This has led to Kunzea oil having been listed with the Australian Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) for the following therapeutic claims:

  • For the temporary relief of the pain of arthritis and rheumatism 

  • Relief of the symptoms of influenza 

  • Relief of muscular aches and pains 

  • Helps relieve nervous tension, stress and mild anxiety 

These are the allowable formal therapeutic claims that can be made in Australia. However, these and other therapeutic benefits can be expanded upon.

There are further potential therapeutic indications for Kunzea essential oil. Various case histories and anecdotal reports suggest a variety of uses.

 

Are there any dangers/cautions I should be aware of when using Kunzea Oil for myself or for my children?

As with all essential oils, Kunzea Oil should not be used undiluted.The overall composition of Australian Kunzea Oil, with a low content of 1,8 cineole, makes it as a safe, non-toxic essential oil to use when diluted. There is no medical reason why Kunzea oil cannot be used during pregnancy if diluted, however, if you are uncertain please seek the advice of a healthcare practitioner.

As with all essential oils, keep out of reach of children and consider testing a small amount on the inner forearm to test for adverse reactions before applying the product to the affected area.

As for our Zea Relief Products, they are very safe to apply directly to the skin for both adults and children. However, we do recommend that children using our products are over 6 months of age.

Finally, anyone taking blood thinners should be careful when using our products. We recommend checking with a health care practitioner for advice. How and where are Zea Relief products made?

All of our Zea Relief products are made right here in Australia. The Kunzea ambigua plant is grown, harvested and distilled in north-eastern Tasmania. From here the pure essential oil is shipped to our TGA-certified manufacturer in Northern New South Wales where the formulation happens.

 

Do Zea Relief products have an aroma or scent?

Zea Relief Products have the clean, fresh scent of Australian Kunzea Oil. Unlike Tea Tree oil and other Pain Relief Products, the Kunzea aroma is aromatically very pleasing. It is often compared to the ‘scent of the Australian bush’.

There will be times that our products will be out of stock, on most occasions pre-orders will be delivered within 30 days of your order. Will I receive a tracking number?

All registered post orders are shipped with full door-to-door tracking.* If your order has been in transit for more than 15 business days, please send us an email at info@zearelief.com and we will have our courier company investigate the whereabouts of your parcel.

 

How long is the processing time?

We strive to ship all orders next business day. In extreme circumstances where our demand is too high to dispatch within 1 business day, we will ship them as fast as possible.

 

I haven't received my Zea Relief order, what should I do?

Please check the tracking link that you should have received via email. If there is limited information there may just be a postal service or customs delay. If your order has not arrived within 10 business days and the tracking information is unclear, please email us at info@zearelief.com and we will provide you with an update of your order and assist where possible.

I have received my Zea Relief order and the products are damaged, what should I do?

Although we do our best to keep your products safe and protected during their journey to you, on the rare occasion an order may arrive with damaged or faulty products. If you have received damaged products please email us at info@zearelief.com and we will organise a replacement for you.*

 

Can I return my purchased items if I change my mind?

If you are not satisfied with the product you are using from the Australian Kunzea Range and have used the product for 2 weeks according to the application guidelines for purposes outlined on the label, please contact us.

The Money Back Guarantee is valid for purchases within Australia and only applies to products purchased online from Australian Kunzea Pty Ltd or from an authorised stockist.
The claim for a refund must be made within 30 days of the purchase date. Refund does not include any postage charges you may have incurred when purchasing or returning the product.

 

Can I update my delivery address after placing my order?

Unfortunately, we cannot change your delivery address after placing your order. This is because your order information is immediately sent to our warehouse where they will prepare your order for dispatch. If your delivery address is wrong, we suggest you try the two options below.

  1. Contact your national postal service and quote your tracking parcel ID. Some carriers will let you request a delivery re-direct.

  2. Contact the resident at the address you placed during checkout.

If you are unable to complete the above two options or the delivery address you listed doesn't exist, we will contact you should your parcel be returned to us. To have your order then shipped back out to you, you must pay a redelivery fee.

 

Can I update, edit or cancel my order?

We cannot update, edit or cancel any order once you have completed checkout.

 

What can I do if my order has been returned to you?

In the occasion your order has been returned to us, we will investigate the reason and get back in contact with you with a solution.
